Derek Minus

Derek Minus is a barrister and a dispute resolution specialist. He is accredited as a NSW Farm Debt mediator pursuant to the legislation.

He has been approved as an Arbitrator; appointed by the Chief Judge to the list of District Court arbitrators for 2011/2012; and the panel of Local Court arbitrators for 2012/2013, approved by the NSW Bar Association as an Expert Determiner, re-accredited as a Mediator with the NSW Bar Association and appointed to the NSW Supreme Court list and the District Court list of mediators for 2011/2012. He is dual qualified as both an international arbitrator and mediator by the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.

Domestically he is a Nationally Accredited mediator and has been appointed to numerous mediation panels. Since 1992 he has conducted over 1000 mediation/conciliation processes. He uses collaborative strategies and combined mediation-arbitration processes to help people achieve more than just the settlement of their dispute and also leads them towards the transformation of their conflict.

Paul Scanlan

Since 1997 Paul has mediated or assisted in resolving over 500 commercial disputes, the majority involving retail and commercial tenancies. The bulk of this work has involved facilitated negotiation aimed at settling disputes between landlord and tenant. Matters handled have involved the majority of the large shopping centre organisations in Australia, including in most cases their managing agents. Lessors and lessees have been represented in equal measure where there has been no conflict of interest.

John McDermott

John McDermott

John McDermott is a Nationally Accredited Mediator, a Court appointed Arbitrator and a member of the Arbitration Liaison Committee of the Law Society of NSW. His recent appointments include the Federal Court Native Title Mediation Panel and the Westpac Industrial Relations Arbitration Panel.

John’s practice as a Mediator and Arbitrator has involved commercial and contractual disputes between State and Federal Government bodies, between Government bodies and private individuals and between partners in professional practices including doctors, accountants and lawyers.

John was one of the first solicitors in New South Wales to be appointed by the Law Society as both a Business Specialist and a Property Specialist, both being relevant to many commercial disputes. Elsewhere, he has dealt with disputes involving an airline, insurers, individuals, companies of all sizes and building matters, some large, some small.

Dr John Keogh is a barrister, mediator and arbitrator. He has been awarded Doctor of Juridical Science (SJD) by UTS Sydney.  Honoured as the UTS “Graduate of the Year” for 1999. Thesis title:  Environmental Due Diligence – Legal Principles, Corporate Strategies. He has been an arbitration and mediation member of the NSW Workers Compensation Commission since its inception.  He has extensive experience in the investigation and determination of disputes as an arbitrator and mediator.

Jennifer Scott

Jennifer Scott has been a solicitor in New South Wales since 1981 and began mediating in 1991. She has a Masters Degree in Dispute Resolution and is a nationally accredited mediator. She has undertaken arbitrations as a member of the Workers Compensation Commission of NSW, which adopted an inquisitorial/investigative conciliation/arbitration process in 2002.
